104 Participants Tackle Climate Change at Provincial Level Discussion

The National Federation of Youth NGO Nepal, in partnership with WWF Nepal organized a day program titled “Provincial Level Discussion to Support SDGs Planning and Reporting in Province no.1” at Hotel Triyuga, Itahari, Sunsari on June 12th, 2018.

The conference’s success was due, in part, to the 104 participants from all 11 districts of Province 1. During the day-long event, they heard from key note speakers and engaged in group discussion regarding two specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Climatic Action (no.13), and Biodiversity Conservation (no.15).The conference was chaired by Mr. Kamal Subedi, Central President of the National Federation of Youth NGO Nepal (NFYN).

Conference was moderated by Shashi Sharma Majgainya,central Secretary of the National Federation of Youth NGO Nepal. Formal session of the conference was hosted by Bina Uprety. Other guests included Honourable Saraswoti Pokharel (Deputy Speaker), Ms. Yosha Guragai (Protshan Foundation Nepal), Honourable Krishna Prasad Oli (member of National Planning Commission), Honourable Jeevan Ghimire (Ministry of Social Development), and many more talked about the issue of sustainable development goal and climate change.

In an effort to leave no one behind, there was constructive engagement and interaction by participants in the conference. It highlighted projects that emphasize the objectives of one or more of the 17 SDGs. This initiative advances the work of exceptional teams, who are already developing innovative solutions that address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within their representative communities and rural municipalities.

Sustainable development goals are integrated goals. They are ambitious goals and they are closely connected to daily activities. They create more opportunities in the local level. The mindset of entrepreneurial youth up will support the achievement of sustainable development goals by 2030.
