Saptari Based Training on DRR and MHPSS

** Saptari Based Training for Elected Public Representative and Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHV)**

National Federation of Youth NGO Nepal (NFYN) successfully conducted 2- days of training at Saptakoshi Municipality of Saptari district for Elected Public Representative on the topic “Disaster Risk Reduction training to Local Stakeholders” and Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHV) on the topic “Basic Training on Disaster Risk Reduction to FCHV” dated 25-26 April 2023. The training was conducted under the project entitled “Community Based Disaster Response and Management- Saptakoshi Municipality of Saptari District”.

The two days of the training capitated twenty-three elected public representatives with the knowledge of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management for Local Hazards & Risks along with boosting their skill to play a role of effective leadership during an emergency situation, whereas twenty-one FCHVs were capitated with the knowledge on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Basic Disaster Risk Reduction for effective preparedness and response.

“The training on Disaster Risk Reduction you have provide to us was necessary as the public representative are the leader of the community and are always at the forefront while responding during an emergency situation, so the knowledge gained from this training will support us to apply effective Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) practices in the municipality” said Krishan Prasad Dhakal, Mayor of Saptakoshi Municipality. He added FCHVs of municipality are very active in the community level and their knowledge on DRRM and MHPSS can be utilized for effective response during disaster.

The training was successfully conducted with the financial and technical support from Japan International Support Program (JISP) and in coordination with Saptakoshi Municipality of Saptari District. NFYN would like to provide special acknowledgement to the facilitator Ms. Sangita Maharjan and Mr. Rukesh Thapa for effectively delivering the contents.
